I am 30 today. Wowsas!
I guess that means I’m really a grown-up. 🙂
Despite the good-natured teasing from younger siblings (one in particular), I am very much looking forward to my 30s. The 20s were a rough decade, to say the least. I got married, divorced, lost my father to cancer, moved a total of 11 times (including across the country), bought and sold a house … at a loss, started divinity school, dropped out, and became a nurse. Phew, I’m exhausted just looking back.
I’m sure the next 10 years will bring their own ups and downs, but I have an inkling that things will stabilize. S and I are earnestly talking about our future, we’re both solidifying our career paths, and I am continuing to take care of myself, knowing that I ain’t getting any younger. 😉
Today I’m just thankful for health and happiness. And for you all!
Looking forward to where this journey takes us next.

Happy Birthday!
Suuuuuuure make some us feel old.
Oh yeah- Happy Birthday. LOL
You know today is your Golden Birthday because you’re turning 30 on the 30th! I hope it’s extra special. I read that tidbit in a book when I was a kid 🙂
As an “older” nurse, with much life and professional experience, I would ask that you keep your mind open to other possible roles in ministry, outside of divinity school. Many exist. I would be happy to share if you are interested. Blessings to you as you progress on your journey.
So it was just 6.5 (June 2004 I believe) years ago that we shared a room in Cape Coast and not much of what you mentioned in the post had yet happened to you… so really the first part of your 20’s was just leading up to that last part. Its been hectic and wild for you to say the least. My birthday was the 31st and it was #50! I have to say that I thought my 30s had the most change – I still hadn’t finished my graduate work at 30, but between 30 and 40 – new job, dogs, cars, house and kids!!! I’m hoping for that elusive stability you mention in my 50’s… But Kristin – you’ve had so much good – its fun to keep up with you through this blog. Thanks and enjoy the next decade – its a doozy!
