New Beginnings

I’m a Gleek too, so this post title gave me a giggle. But it’s also fitting, so I went for it. 😉

Today is the day I pack up my car with business casual attire, workout clothes and school gear, and head “home”. The new job starts Wednesday and I need to get settled before I fly to my hometown tomorrow to see my mom off for her Peace Corps adventure. So far, 2011 is shaping up to be a year of transitions.

I am absolutely thrilled about this opportunity and can’t wait to get started. And I’m thankful that I get to commute back on the weekends to spend time with my family, until S can transfer/find a job elsewhere. But it’s definitely going to be tough. I’m renting a room from family friends in the meantime and trying to figure out how to balance being comfortable where I live with respecting the fact that this will be very new to them too (with two grown daughters, they’re empty nesters and not used to having long-term house guests).

But despite the challenges, I’m choosing to view this chapter as an adventure (and in a way, a chance to start over). I have officially been a Registered Nurse for a year now, and the first year was anything but cake. But I learned a lot, and I grew a lot and it’s time to move forward.

But first I have A LOT of packing to do!
