Aaaaaaaaand, there goes my QI project.

I was supposed to be days away from finishing my chart audits. About a week away from completing my data analysis. Ten days away from ordering my poster to present at two conferences.

And then bureaucracy struck.

I went to my clinical site this evening to continue chart audits. When what to my wondering eyes should appear but a message that my account was disabled.

Naturally I called the Help Desk. And was told, to my complete and utter shock and dismay, that I didn’t complete some mandatory training.

Tonight was the first time I ever heard of such a training. Neither my preceptor, nor the HR/IT people who took months to get me access in the first place, ever mentioned a mandatory training. Nor did I ever receive an email stating that I was in danger of being deactivated because of this training.

The Help Desk operator said the “procedure” was I complete the training, I get my access back. I begged and pleaded for them to restore my access for just three more weeks so that I could finish my project. And then I would never again need to connect.

No dice.

No training, no access.

Like I said…screwed.
