Reader Responses: Demographics

A while back I asked you all to help me paint a picture. A picture of the folks who read this blog and the type of content that keeps you coming back for more. Thank you for offering your feedback!

I finally had a chance to sit down and go through the data, and I wanted to share the results with you.

This first post will offer a closer look at you, the readers. I’ll be back tomorrow with the results of your feedback about the content.

Of the folks who responded to the first survey, 100% of you were female. That doesn’t really surprise me, given the gender breakdown within nursing, but I do wonder… did male readers (and I know you’re out there) just not participate or is there content that would engage you more? Just a thought…

The age breakdown showed that a strong proportion (almost half) of you are in your 20s:

You come from many corners of the United States…

You are quite the educated crowd. Over 75% of you have either a Bachelor’s degree or a graduate degree.

As for your nursing education (or anticipated nursing education), this was the breakdown. One thing that surprised me … over 1/3 of you are neither nurses nor nursing students. I would love to know what draws you to the blog! 🙂

Almost half of you are students and/or RNs (some of you are both). Of those of you who are not in nursing, your professional backgrounds ranged from social worker, to teacher, to marketing professional.

Of those of you who work in health care, a large majority work in a hospital. Two of you work in home health, and one of you works for a non-profit.

Four of you have a blog of your own – see a link to your site in my blogroll. 😉

That’s a quick snapshot of the readers who responded! The survey is closed at this point, but I love to learn more about my readers. Please feel free to contact me at any time and share your story!
