Heartland Pups

I’m in the middle of nowhere today, sleeping at a Best Western and eating takeout for the umpteenth night in a row. We are three nights away from our destination and excited that by Monday we will be past the prairies, and into the lush trees and mountains of the southeast. I think our dogs are over the road trip as much as we are (although whoever had the idea to put fenced dog parks in midwestern rest stops was a saint).

Speaking of dogs, allow me to pause for a moment of puppy love…

This is my little Eli – remember way back when, I debated the wisdom of getting a puppy? Well, I got one. 🙂 And he has brought me more joy than I could have imagined.

As if that cuteness wasn’t too much to handle, meet Suri – our other fur-kid…

Suri is also known as “Love Dog” (Eli is “Little Man”). She is a perfect Lab – loves to play ball and swim. She is gentle and patient. She taught Eli to play fetch. Together, they are quite a pair…

So this is me opening up and sharing my life. It’s also me checking in when there’s not much to report except a severe thunderstorm brewing outside our hotel. Thank you for your kind comments and emails about my announcement earlier this week. I’ll have more nursing-related news to share soon, once we get settled into our new digs!
