Read This: June/July/August

This will probably be the last regularly scheduled reading for The Makings of a Nurse book club, at least for the time being. With school starting in August, I just don’t think there will be enough hours in the day (or energy in my brain) to read and review the way I’ve been doing. So consider this the book club’s last hurrah…for now. 😉

In a nod to my upcoming NP specialty, I thought we’d spend the summer reading this:

I first heard about this book on NPR (where else?), when the author Siddhartha Mukherjee was interviewed on Fresh AirI referenced parts of the book in papers for grad school but I have yet to read it cover-to-cover. Not only will this provide some great context for my own upcoming academic journey, but I think cancer is an important disease for all of us to better understand.

And by the way, The Emperor of All Maladies was the 2011 Pulitzer Prize winner for General Nonfiction. Not too shabby!

I hope you’ll join me!
