Nurse Teeny has two shiny new cards for her wallet and her resume…

I spent the last two days being certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and re-certified in BLS (Basic Life Support). The stress of anticipation was much worse than the class itself, although it was quite intense when we had to run a code to pass. Learn those algorithms and know your ECG rhythms, that’s all I gotta say!

Oh, and take the class with a friend – it’s much more enjoyable. I teamed up with my good friend Nikki for the two-day extravaganza. Hi Nikki! 🙂

Most acute care jobs require ACLS within 6 months of hire, plus other certifications depending on where you work. I decided to go ahead and shell out the cash now, in the hopes it would make me more appealing to potential employers. I don’t think it will be the magic bullet but you never know.

Five more applications in today. I should keep a running tally somewhere.

Or not, that might get depressing. 😉

P.S. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for your own pair of Timberland PRO Renova shoes! Read here for more details, and then post a comment about how you practice self-care. The deadline is this Friday at noon PST…
