Free Time

Today was the first day I had no commitments, no homework, and nothing on the horizon either. For the first time in a very long time, I’m not quite sure what to do with myself.

S and I slept in, made pumpkin waffles (I *heart* Trader Joe’s!), took the pooches to the dog park, and lazed around for most of the day. It was relaxing and fun and so nice to spend quality time together. But I think I need to have SOMETHING to keep me busy.

So I sat down and made a list of to-do’s that will hopefully help occupy my time:

  1. Apply fanatically to jobs. An endlessly frustrating process.
  2. Step up the volunteering. Ronald McDonald House will thank me. 🙂
  3. Make doctor’s appointments and tend to my health, which has been severely neglected. Luckily I can continue to get health insurance through my school since we’re still technically students.
  4. In my own efforts at self-care, I have discovered a free and easy way of getting myself back in shape … Gym shopping! Since my job search may require relocation, we don’t want to sign a contract with any one place, not that we could afford it anyway. Many, many fitness centers offer 5 to 7 day free passes. So I’ve found enough gyms that offer said passes to get both S and myself through February without paying a dime. Clever Nurse Teeny. 😉
  5. Plan best friend’s bachelorette party and bridal shower.
  6. Explore possible consultant opportunities through a former job. Any income is good income.

Any suggestions for other fun (and preferably free) activities?
